Future Filmmakers Festival: Free Workshops

Writing Dialogue led by screenwriter Ron Falzone
Noon - 1:30 PM, Classroom TBD
Dialogue is the music of human speech. Its mix of both rhythm and words can define a character's intellect, world and circumstances with clarity and humor. What makes good dialogue? How can we capture the spirit of a person through the way they talk? This workshop will explore different elements of dialogue based upon examples brought in by students.

ASSIGNMENT: Go to a public place and listen in on a conversation between two people. DO NOT TAKE ANY NOTES. Wait two hours then write down the overheard conversation using only your memory to recall the topic, words and rhythm. Bring 4 copies of this dialogue to class.

Acting Class for Film Directors led by actor Eddie Rouse
Noon - 1:30 PM, Classroom TBD
Successful actor Eddie Rouse, best known for his appearances in Undertow, Juwanna Man, and George Washington, will provide directors with a basic understanding of acting through various exercises, allowing them to improve their communication with actors on set and improve their directing skills.

ASSIGNMENT: Bring a script.

Creative Idea Development and Pre-Production led by Alec Raffin
Noon - 1:30 PM, Classroom TBD
Got an idea? Need an idea? Pitch your short film idea and get help developing and pre-producing it. If you don't have an idea we will help you come up with one.

DVD Design led by Coop Image
Noon - 1:30 PM, Conoway Center
Create exciting cover art for your dvd to complete the package. In this workshop filmmakers will learn various ways to duplicate designs cheaply and easily using silk screen, stencils and other media.

Final Cut Pro led by Shannon Hartman of Macprofessionals
1/2 hour workshops, 11AM - 3:00 PM, Conoway Center
The Certified Apple Pro's from the Macprofessionals will be giving you the tips and tricks in Final Cut Pro to take your films to the next level. Cover such topics as Multicam editing, color correction, composting to compressor.
