Future Filmmakers Festival Internship Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2006 Future Filmmakers Festival. Future Filmmakers Festival is produced by Cinema/Chicago, parent organization of The Chicago International Film Festival, TV Fest and Intercom.

New to 2006 Future Filmmakers Festival is its expansion into a three day event that will be held this year on June 16th -18th, 2006 at The Film Row Cinema on the Columbia College Campus of Chicago, IL. In addition to the general public, filmmakers accepted into the festival will be invited to attend the festival and watch their film with an audience as well as attend exciting workshops, meet in-the-know film professionals, and hang out with other young filmmakers from all over the country.

In order to plan, promote and execute our inaugural national Festival, we need your passion, dedication, talent and help!

These are unpaid Internship and Volunteer opportunities; however those seeking college credit through their academic institutions will be provided with all necessary documentation requested.

Flexible hours: at least 15 hours per week.

These opportunities start immediately and run through the end of the Festival. Required hours will increase in the weeks prior to the Festival and a full time commitment is necessary for most positions during the week of the Festival in June.

Successful performance and completion of the internship may lead to internships and paid positions during the Chicago International Film Festival season.

General requirements for the Internship positions listed below along with a familiarity / proficiency in their respective areas such as graphic design / film production.

  • Ability to work independently
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work well under a deadline
  • Ability to use Access & Word programs comfortably
  • Some familiarity with youth media or interest in film desirable

Workshop Coordinator

The Workshop Coordinator will work directly with the organizations attending the Festival that are hosting how-to workshops. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that presenting organizations have all of their equipment and facility needs met and oversee the scheduling of the workshops.

Screening Coordinator

The Screening Coordinator will be responsible for the timing, formatting and scheduling of each film program in the Festival.

Expo Coordinator

The Expo Coordinator will be in prior contact with all organizations participating in the Expo in order to ensure that all their equipment and facility needs are met. During the Festival, the Expo Coordinator will act as on-site manager of the Expo.

Hospitality / Travel Coordinators

The Hospitality / Travel Coordinators will work directly with Festival guests and participants, assisting the arrangement of their travel and hotel accommodations. Duties include registering all Festival guests upon arrival, providing guests with itineraries for the weekend, advising guests on public transportation options, maintaining a "guests in town" list and, most important of all, making sure the guests enjoy their stay in Chicago and their entire visit of the Festival.

Awards and Jury Coordinator

The Awards and Jury Coordinator will work directly with the jury in order to ensure that the films are screened and the final selections are made, along with organizing the Best of the Fest film selection and voting process. The Coordinator will organize the acceptance process and ordering of award plaques.

Marketing / Promotion Intern

The Marketing / Promotion Interns will assist the Festival Director and Festival Coordinator with developing new ways of promoting and executing the Film Festival and reaching out to new audiences.

Graphic Design Intern

The Graphic Design Intern will assist in creating Festival material, including: postcards, posters, events program books, signage, invitations, ticket stock. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Quark Xpress.
